Milissa Danceur

Yoga Guide
milissa@embodymentaz.net

Milissa was born in the US, and has spent extensive time living, studying and traveling outside the ‘states – in Indonesia, Cambodia, Malaysia, France, Australia, Germany and Denmark.  She makes her home in Phoenix with her partner & daughter, 4 dogs and 1 cat, with her mom, aunts, uncle and cousins close by.

Milissa began studying meditation at the age of 16 as part of her studies in Indonesia.  She has continued practicing mediation throughout her life and integrating the wisdom from various traditions and teachers that span the range from the Society of Friends (Quaker) to Pema Chodron and Thich Nhat Hanh.  Milissa received her 200 hour RYT Yoga Teachers Training from At One Yoga, with teachers Jenn Chiarelli,  John Salisbury, Rolf Gates, David Romanelli, Johanna Epps, Ian Lopatin, Jason Crandell.

Milissa’s objective is to be of service to her students and the world; to open students and empower yoga poses to grow from the essence of the individual. She teaches from the ground up, developing a practice with a basis in alignment that enables flow. She believes that Asana should be challenging and personal, pushing boundaries that, once overcome, allow the true self to be present. Her classes focus on the breath and the way asana feels to each body. She creates an atmosphere of centeredness and deep release that develops both strength and flexibility. Students have reported the following after taking her class: Better quality sleep; increased concentration; deep relaxation; internal calm and focus; heightened joy and appreciation of life; better posture; more comfortable back; fewer aches and pains; a great workout; and a deeper sense of self-acceptance.

Milissa is known in the business community for her work in Human Resources and Talent Development, bringing the concepts of human potential and empowerment to organizations, teams and individuals.  She has also has received a lot of attention for her work in using the concepts of mindfulness, meditation and yoga in Talent Programs and Succession Plans in organizations.  As a professional, she is also known for her efforts to help businesses and organizations to integrate yoga, meditation, and spirituality into the workplace.

Milissa also serves as a Business Volunteer for the Arts, and is benefactor of Aid to the Adoption of Special Kids (AASK). Milissa holds a BS degree in International Studies and has been conferred a Lifetime Certification as a Senior Professional of Human Resources (SPHR).
