Yoga Classes

Yoga "Flow" 10:00-11:15 a.m. with Milissa

Types of classes

Adults/Individuals

Yoga services to be offered as part of Embodyment Wellness & Fitness Center will be both traditional, regularly scheduled classes, as well as unique class and seminar formats.  For seminar formats, we will offer integrated content, such as Yoga and Ayurveda, with yoga practitioners co-teaching with other subject
matter experts.

Initial, regularly scheduled classes will be brought on-line as demand increases.  To begin we will offer 3-6 regular classes from the descriptions below:

Key:   B = Beginner           E = Experienced           P = Practitioner

Fundamentals: Introduces new and continuing students to principles of alignment and breath work, primary poses, variations and yoga basics, including use of props. Emphasis will be on standing poses and opening the shoulders, as well as improving leg and back strength. Variations are practiced teaching body awareness and movement limits. Students may enjoy taking an Introduction to Yoga I over several private sessions. B, E, P

Flow: Deepen your yoga practice in this Vinyasa class. We will focus on cultivating strength and flexibility through poses and variations, building on the basics; exploring and extending time in inversions; developing core strength and breathing as essential to the practice and having fun while innovating our practice.  Modifications and variations will always be offered: know and respect your body. Yoga experience and consistent practice is helpful! B, E, P

Power: This athletic class is designed for those students who are looking to advance their yoga practice and take it to the next level.  We strongly suggest that you have an understanding of power yoga or have taken at least 10 Flow yoga classes at Embodyment Yoga. This exciting class will have you continuously moving - your body and breath. We will grow and expand a pose from its roots, to its core and then turn it upside down to its branches. This class will have you balancing on your feet, your toes, your hands and head. We guarantee this is not your standard power yoga class.  Leave your ego at the door and turn your world upside down!  E, P

Restorative: Profound stress release through guided relaxation, breathing instruction, embodied explorations and silence. Using simple yoga postures and the full body support of bolsters, cushions and blankets to relax and renew while the rejuvenating powers of yoga work. B, E, P

Yin: Explore the wisdom of the sacred texts of Patanjali while experiencing the deep benefits of Yin yoga. Yin practice honors our receptive nature with postures held long and deep. These postures stimulate the deep connective tissues of the body to nurture greater ease and health for all the joints, especially the joints of the low back and hips. A great class to balance the active lives we all lead. While sitting in the long poses we will explore the wisdom found in India's sacred texts. Class ends with a short meditation. You will leave feeling deeply rejuvenated and relaxed. B, E, P

Family and Children

Chakra – (Family Yoga) – children 2-17 and adult family members

Family Yoga offers kids a chance to practice yoga with their family members. Classes are structured like Mudras and Asanas yoga classes with more emphasis on interactive and partner poses for kids and adults to do together.

Asana - (Kids & Pre-teens) – ages 5-11

Kids & Pre-teen Yoga are fun and age-appropriate yoga classes. Classes will have a theme, and will include poses, breathing, movement, music, art, and relaxation.  Better than taking a nap the last 15 minutes, your child will learn and practice gentle and quieting yoga stretches and yoga through story, and will have a long relaxation while you can take your own Circle Yoga class.

Prana – (Toddlers) – ages 2-4

Movers & Twisters is a fun class for young kids to experience beginning yoga with their parent or caregiver. We will do poses, movement, music, art, and relaxation, with more focus on breathing, movement and play. (For Kids ages 2-4.)

Mudra (Teen Yoga) – ages 12-17

Teen Yoga gives teens a chance to work on particular poses in a class with their peers and progress into more challenging poses throughout the session. One weekly class is more flow-oriented. We still maintain a playful atmosphere and offer relaxation.

For those who might be new to yoga, we have provided some helpful information and guidelines.
